Page Arizona River Running Guide

Weather for Page Arizona Forecast

Page is a small town in Coconino County, Arizona near Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell with a population of approximately 7,000.  Unlike other towns in the area, Page was created in 1957 to house workers and their families during the construction of nearby Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River. Its 17-square-mile site was obtained in a land exchange with the Navajo Indian tribe. The town is perched atop Manson Mesa at an elevation of 4,300 feet.

The City of Page is adjacent to the Navajo Nation, the United States' largest Native American tribe. The Navajo people represent the largest segment of the population in the Glen Canyon area. Their reservation adjacent to Page contains more than 16 million acres (27,000 square miles) and extends into both Utah and New Mexico. Today the Navajo Nation is home to about 200,000 tribal members. While incorporating many aspects of modern technology, some Navajos retain their traditional lifestyles as farmers and sheep herders.
