 Colorado Springs is the second biggest city in Colorado and sits almost in the middle of the state. It has a large military base outside of it, Fort Carson, that sits at the base of Cheyenne Mountain where the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) resides. Rising not far from the center of the city is Pikes Peak, the mighty mountain that can be seen from all around Colorado. There is a railroad that goes to the top, or numerous hiking trails for those who want to feel their heart's beating. Colorado Springs has a vibrant downtown with lots of good restaurants and shops and then has plenty of national chains and a shopping mall just outside of the downtown area. Colorado Springs is also home to Colorado College (CC) and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). |
