Idleyld Park Oregon River Running Guide

Weather for Idleyld Park Oregon Forecast

Idleyld Park, pronounced 'Idle Wild', is your gateway to the North Umpqua River and Crater Lake National Park. It is located 22 miles east of Roseburg Oregon on State Highway 138. This small river town boasts some of the best recreation in southern Oregon. Some of the nearby activities include rafting, fishing, and kayaking on the beautiful North Umpqua River.

As water is abundant in this lush river valley, the river is always running a beautiful translucent emerald color. The primary rafting and kayaking season is in the spring, summer, and fall.

The spectacular North Umpqua River is flanked on one side by the North Umpqua Scenic Highway (SR 138) and on the other side by the North Umpqua Trail. The North Umpqua Trail is about 80 miles long and has everything from mellow scenic walks to vigorous hikes to secluded waterfalls.

If you're just looking for a nice relaxing cruise, SR 138 is referred to as the North Umpqua Scenic Highway and is one of the most beautiful drives in Oregon. Along the way you'll catch glimpses of the majestic Mt. Thielsen and Diamond Peak.

Crater Lake National Park is only 50 miles east of Idleyld Park. Crater Lake lies inside a caldera, or volcanic basin, that was created when Mount Mazama collapsed 7,700 years ago following a large eruption. Crater Lake, at 1,943 feet (592 meters) deep, is the seventh deepest lake in the world and the deepest in the United States.
