The North Fork American River at North Fork Dam gauge is about 14 miles below this run and provides an accurate reading for this section

This section of river only runs in the winter and spring, usually after a few days of heavy rain or during normal snowmelt

Character/Similar To:  Pool drop class III/IV rapids, popular raft run
Hazards:  This section of the North Fork American contains more sieves and strainers then the upper two sections, so scout carefully and be aware.

Location:  In the Pacific Region (CA), 50 miles Northeast of Sacramento
Shuttle Logistics: 

Put-in: Take the Colfax exit from I-80. On the south side of the Interstate turn right onto Canyon Way. Follow this road for about a quarter mile and turn left onto Colfax-Iowa Road. Continue to the bridge over the river.

Take-out: From I-80, take the Weimar Cross Road exit and go east for 2 miles on Canyon Way to the Foresthill 13 road sign. Follow this road about 4 miles to the river.
