Take Out:  Lotus Campground
Difficulty:  Class II @ 500 - 1,500 cfs, II+ @ 1,500 - 3,000 cfs , Class III > 3,000 cfs
Gradient:  23 fpm
Run Length:  3 miles
Current Streamflow:  3425 cfs @ 04/26/2009 10:00 PM - AMERICAN RIVER AT CHILI BAR (CBR), reading taken from CDEC
Good Level:  500 - 3,000 cfs, Optimum 1,500 cfs
Season Comments:  March, April, May, June, July, August
Primary Season: 

This section is dam-controlled and usually only runs during the spring and summer.

Permit:  None presently required, be prepared to pay a small parking fee at the put in or take out.
Character/Similar To:  This is a great beginner run, the rapids are easy pool drop class II. The road runs the length of the run so it is easy to get out of the river if need be.
Hazards:  About 1 miles from the take out is the hardest rapid on the run, Lotus Ledge Hole.

Location:  In the Pacific Region (CA), 51.3 miles (1 hour 2 minutes) Northeast of Sacramento
Shuttle Logistics: 

Put In: In Coloma on Highway 49 put in at Coloma State Park.

Take Out: From the put in drive north on Highway 49 and turn left onto Lotus Road. In 1.5 miles turn right onto Bassi Road, follow this road to Lotus Campground.
