Put In:  Virgilia
Take Out:  Belden
Difficulty:  Class IV - @ 600 - 1,500 cfs, IV @ 1,500 - 3,000 cfs , Class V > 3,000 cfs
Gradient:  40 fpm
Run Length:  10 miles
Good Level:  600 - 3,000 cfs, Optimum 1,500 cfs
Streamflow Comments:  There is no gauge for this section of river.
Season Comments:  March, April, May
Primary Season:  This section of river only runs during the spring, usually during normal run off.
Permit:  None presently required
Character/Similar To:  Mostly class IV rapids with two class V rapids that are very difficult at all water levels.
Hazards:  Scout the two class V rapids from the road, the first is a short section of rocks that create many sieves, the other is a river wide ledge called Five-In-A-Hole. Both can be easily portaged on the river right.

Location:  In the Pacific Region (CA), 116 miles (2 hours 15 minutes) North of Sacramento
Shuttle Logistics: 

Take Out: From Oroville drive east on Highway 70 to the small town of Belden. A convenient take out is at the rest area.

Put In: From the take out continue another 8 miles on Highway 70. Just before the town of Virgilia, put in at the park with one picnic table and a 6-foot drop in the river.
