Character/Similar To:  This river has the unique combination of moderate rapids, warm water, easy access, superb scenery, abundant wildlife, excellent camping, and fairly light use making it one of the state's best floats. The majority of the action on this run is in the first couple of miles highlighted by Ikes Falls.
Hazards:  High water during rainy seasons.

Land Ownership:  Mixed National Forest and private.

Camping on River:  Numerous developed and primitive campsites along the river and highway 96. Many large beaches.

Put-in: Located at Ishi Pishi Bridge just below Somes Bar, off Hwy 96 north of Orleans, California.

Take-out: Located at Orleans, downriver 7 miles on Hwy 96 from Somes Bar.
