This section of river runs in the spring during normal snowmelt |
| Permit: |
None presently required but this section of river is in Sequoia National Park and it is against the rules to kayak or raft within the park so be sneaky. |
| Character/Similar To: |
Most of the rapids on this run are class V but they are seperated by calm pools. The run is roadside so shuttle scouting is possible. |
| Hazards: |
There are a few drops that should be portaged, once you enter the gorge there is a 15-foot waterfall that can be portaged dry and high or you can seal launch from the large midstream boulder. Shortly after that there is a class VI unrunnable rapid that should be portaged. Bring real shoes for the portages because the rock can be very slick. |
