Put In:  Near Limestone Bluffs
Take Out:  Matthews Creek Campground
Difficulty:  Class IV , Class V
Gradient:  75 fpm
Run Length:  6 miles
Current Streamflow:  3630 cfs @ 12/14/2016 08:30 AM - SALMON R A SOMES BAR CA, reading taken from USGS
Good Level:  300 - 1,000 cfs, Optimum 800 cfs
Streamflow Comments:  There is no gauge for this river. This section is usually running half the flow of the Salmon River at Somes Bar.
Season Comments:  January, February, March, April, May, November, December
Primary Season:  This section of river only runs during the winter and spring, usually after a few days of heavy rain or during snowmelt
Permit:  None presently required
Character/Similar To:  Pool drop class IV/V rapids. Some rapids in the middle of the run are regularly portaged.
Hazards:  If unfamiliar with this run, scout each drop, there are many rapids that most groups will portage
Water Craft:  kayak
Land Ownership:  Public
Wilderness:  No
Camping on River:  Matthews Creek Campground at the take out
Location:  In the Pacific Region (CA), 307 miles (5 hours 20 minutes) Northwest of Sacramento
Shuttle Logistics: 

Take Out: From Highway 96 take Salmon River Road, just south of Somes Bar, for 17 miles to the forks of the Salmon. From the Forks of the Salmon, drive up the South Fork for about 9 miles to reach the take out.

Put In: The put in is about 6 miles up river on the same road.
