Put In:  Edwards Crossing
Take Out:  Purdons Crossing
Difficulty:  Class III to IV @ 800 - 2,000 cfs , Class IV + @ 2,000 - 3,000 cfs
Gradient:  65 fpm
Run Length:  4 miles
Good Level:  800 - 3,000 cfs, Optimum 1,500 cfs

There is no gauge for this river

Season Comments:  March, April, May
Primary Season:  This section of the South Yuba is dam-controlled and usually only runs during the spring after a large snowpack season. The season for this stretch is usually really short, during the peak of snowmelt you can expect to see an adequate amount of water.
Permit:  None presently required
Character/Similar To:  This run consists of mostly pool drop class III rapids with a few class IV rapids depending on flows. Keep your eyes peeled for the many fun play spots on this run.
Hazards:  About half way down this run there is an old broken dam that creats a large class IV rapid. Scout or portage this drop from either bank.

Location:  In the Pacific Region (CA), 61.1 miles (1 hour 9 minutes) Northeast of Sacramento
Shuttle Logistics: 

Take Out: From Nevada City, go north on Highway 49 out of the eastern edge of town. Turn right onto North Bloomfield Road about .3 miles out of town. In about .6 miles you will arrive at a “T” intersection, turn left here. In a short distance follow Lake Vera-Purdons Road for 7 miles to the take out.

Put In: From the take out return to the “T” intersection and continue straight for 6 miles to Edwards Crossing.
