Put In:  Near Second Divide
Take Out:  Downieville
Difficulty:  Class IV , Class V , Portage
Gradient:  146 fpm
Run Length:  3 miles
Good Level:  300 - 600 cfs, Optimum 500 cfs
Streamflow Comments:  There is no gauge for this creek.
Season Comments:  January, February, March, April, May, November, December
Primary Season:  This creek only runs during the winter and spring, usually after a few days of heavy rain or during normal snowmelt
Permit:  None presently required
Character/Similar To:  This run is mostly class III/IV rapids with a few runnable but mostly portaged class V waterfalls
Hazards:  Scout the 10-foot ledge just beyond the river wide log, scout or portage on river left. Shortly after the 10-foot ledge there is a clean and very fun 15-foot drop that should be scouted. At the end of the run portage Pauley Falls on river right.

Location:  In the Pacific Region (CA), 104 miles (1 hour 57 minutes) Northeast of Sacramento
Shuttle Logistics: 

Take Out: The take out is 40 miles north of Nevada City in Downieville at the Highway 49 bridge.

Put In: From Downieville take the road that follows the Downie River. In 1 mile this road crosses the Downie River, in another 2 miles you will arrive at the Second Divide trailhead. From the trail head look for the hiking road to the Southeast.
