Difficulty:  Class II , Class III -

Run Length:  26 miles
Current Streamflow:  1280 cfs @ 12/14/2016 09:30 AM - GUNNISON RIVER NEAR GRAND JUNCTION, CO., reading taken from USGS
Streamflow Comments:  Flows are dependant on current snowpack, this section is also regulated by dam releases
Season Comments:  April, May, June, July
Primary Season:  This usually runs from mid-spring to mid-summer
Permit:  None presently required
Character/Similar To:  Mostly flatwater mixed with a few class II/III rapids. This is a great run for beginner kayakers and intermediate canoeist. This section of the Gunnison has great scenery and gives the feeling of a wilderness run even though the highway is only a couple miles away.
Hazards:  This is a long section of water through a desert landscape, bring plenty of food and water.

Location:  In the Rocky Mtn Region (CO), 246 miles (4 hours 14 minutes) West of Denver
Shuttle Logistics: 

Put In: To reach the put in drive north on Highway 50 for 10 miles from Delta. Turn at the large sign for Escalante Canyon. In a few miles put in at the bridge over the Gunnison.

Take Out: In the town of Whitewater the take out is under the Highway 141 bridge.
