Character/Similar To:  Long and continuous boulder choked rapids with cold and fast water. It requires the ability to maneuver around boulders at lower water and the ability to read and avoid large holes at higher water.
Hazards:  very cold water, continuous whitewater

Land Ownership:  Mixed public and private, watch for signs along river designating public lands

Location:  In the Rocky Mtn Region (CO), 127 miles Southwest of Denver

Shuttle Logistics: 

Put-In: turn east off of hwy 24 on an unmarked dirt road just north of mile marker 200. You can see the Arkansas river from the road and an old broken down bridge spanning the river. Cross the railroad tracks and turn left immediately. Do not cross Scott's bridge, this is private property. Continue north on the dirt road for approximately 3/4 of a mile until you reach the BLM sign. Pay your daily use fee here. Continue a short distance until you reach the put-in parking lot.

Take-Out: Proceed south on Hwy 24, turn left onto County Rd 371 (Otero Pump Station sign), cross the river. From here you can see the entrance to number 5 downstream. Turn right and proceed downstream to the Railroad Bridge Recreation area.
