Take Out:  The Gate Campground
Difficulty:  Class II , Class III
Gradient:  31 fpm
Run Length:  11 miles
Current Streamflow:  497 cfs @ 05/26/2012 10:00 AM - LAKE FORK AT GATEVIEW, CO., reading taken from USGS
Streamflow Comments: 

Flows for this section of river are dependant on current snowpack.

Season Comments:  May, June, July
Primary Season:  This usually runs during normal snowmelt season. Most years this will run May through July
Permit:  None presently required
Character/Similar To:  This section of the Henson runs through a box canyon that, in some spots, reaches 100 feet deep. The whitewater in this section is mostly class II riffles with a few class III rapids.
Hazards:  For beginner paddlers this can be a challenging section, also there may be an ocassional downed log. This run is roadside but because it is in a small box canyon it can be very difficult to leave river level.

Land Ownership:  Public forest
Wilderness:  Yes
Camping on River:  The Gate Campground at the take out
Location:  In the Rocky Mtn Region (CO), 236 miles (6 hours 1 minute) Southwest of Denver
Shuttle Logistics: 

Put In: The put in for this run is below the Highway 149 Bridge at mile marker 79.

Take Out: From the put in drive downriver on Highway 149 for 10 miles and turn into The Gate Campground.
