This section of the Slate is short and steep, very low volume creek that has formed a very narrow pathway. |

This section of the Slate can sometimes be a wood magnet. Scout the very last drop, it is called Wicked Wanda, most years it contains wood and is considered a portage. Also scout the hole just above Wicked Wanda, at most flows it is very sticky. |

| Shuttle Logistics: |
Take Out: From Crested Butte take Gothic Road north and turn left onto CO Road 734 towards Pittsburgh. The take out is just above the confluence with Oh-Be-Joyful Creek.
Put In: To reach the put in continue up river for about 2 miles and put in were the terrain becomes flat. |
