Put In:  South Bank Launch
Take Out:  Almont Post Office
Difficulty:  Class II , Class III
Gradient:  40 fpm
Run Length:  7.5 miles
Good Level:  800 - 1,200 cfs
Streamflow Comments:  This section rarely runs over 1,000 cfs, when it does there is a great selection for play boaters
Season Comments:  May, June
Primary Season:  This section is dam-controlled and the water flows from a private reservoir. This section only runs during snowmelt season
Permit:  None presently required
Character/Similar To:  All of the rapids in this section are easy to read and run for most beginner and intermediate boaters. The riverbed is mostly granite and flows through a forested canyon. This section is great for fishing

Location:  In the Rocky Mtn Region (CO), 210 miles (4 hours 28 minutes) Southwest of Denver
Shuttle Logistics: 

Take Out: Some popular take outs are near the Almont Post Office or at “North” Bridge just north of Gunnison on Highway 135 near Garlic Mike’s Restaurant.

Put In: From Almont take Taylor Canyon Road to the put in at South Bank Boat Launch.
