Winter runs are possible but it is cold.

Permit:  None required
Character/Similar To:  Large meandering river through farm land. Big waves and holes form at high water.
Hazards:  Many bridge abutments.
Water Craft:  kayak,wwcan,raft
Land Ownership:  mixed public and private.
Wilderness:  partial, railroad and small dirt roads
Camping on River:  yes on public lands
Location:  In the Rocky Mtn Region (CO), 120 miles Northwest of Denver
Shuttle Logistics: 

Put-in from I-70 at Silverthorne, CO: Head north on Hwy 9 and turn west off of Hwy 9 on Trough Road which is about .5 mile south of the Hwy 9 bridge crossing the Colorado. Continue about 10 miles down Trough Road and turn right at the road marked "Pumphouse". Continue 1.5 miles to the river. Camping is available including outhouses, picnic tables, and fireplaces.

Take-out from put-in: Continue west on Trough Road for approx. 20 miles to Hwy 131 bridge.

Take-out from I-70 near Wolcott, CO: Head north on Hwy 131 through Wolcott to State Bridge. Where the bridge crosses the river is the take-out. There is an access on river left and river right. Both charge a fee.

Put-in from take-out: To reach the put-in cross the bridge and take a right. This is Trough Road. Drive est on Trough Road from State Bridge approximately 20 miles and turn left at the sign marked "Pumphouse Recreation Area.
