Put In:  Deadwood Reservoir
Take Out:  Deadwood River Road
Difficulty: 
Gradient:  59 ft/mi
Run Length:  14 miles
Good Level:  700-2,000 cfs
Season Comments:  May, June, July
Permit:  None presently required.
Character/Similar To:  Steep, small, low-volume mountain river with swift water and several big drops.
Hazards:  Cold water, isolation, strainers, and numerous log jams.
Water Craft:  kayak
Land Ownership:  National Forest
Wilderness:  Yes
Location:  In the Rocky Mtn Region (ID), 84 miles Northeast of Boise
Shuttle Logistics:  Put-in: From Banks, Idaho, take Hwy 21 east about 25 miles to USFS 555 (Also known as Scott Mountain Road), some 6.5 miles west of the Deadwood-South Fork confluence. Turn north and slowly wind your way a little over 25 miles to Deadwood Reservoir. Put in where the road crosses the river below the dam.

Take-out: Turn north at the confluence onto unpaved Deadwood River Road (USFS 024GB), marked "Julie Creek Trail," and drive some 10 miles up the west side of the Deadwood Canyon.
