| Shuttle Logistics: |
Put-in: From St. Maries, Idaho, drive upstream along the north bank some 50 miles to Avery on St. Joe Road (Forest Hwy 50). Follow USFS Road 218 along the right bank from Avery upstream to USFS Road 320, bear left and follow the rough, dirt road to the put-in at Heller Creek. USFS Road 320 winds around the north slope of Red Ives Peak and is usually blocked by snow until the middle of June or early July by which time there may not be adequate flow for this run.
Take-out: From Avery, continue on USFS Road 218 upstream some 40 miles to the Spruce Tree Campground.
