The take out for this run is the same as the put-in for the Lower. From Hwy 11 turn right a couple of miles west of Weippe on 3-mile road. Follow for about six miles to Lolo Creek road. Stay on this road until it winds down to the creek. To get to the put-in, continue into Weippe and keep going east on Mussellshell Road for about 18 miles. Mussellshell turns into County Rd 100 and leads to the campground.

| Lolo Creek, Upper Run on the North Fork Clearwater River |
The first nine miles of the run takes a beautiful swift water tour of a cedar-filled, deep canyon. Steep cliffs exchange with wide open meadows. Four miles down, a log broaches the river and must be portaged on the left. The canyon opens up to a maze of log jams and islands around Cottonwood Flats. Pay attention to stay in the main channel. The closing in of the canyon signals the take-out.
