Put In:  Hammer Creek
Take Out:  Heller Bar
Difficulty:  Class III , Class IV
Gradient:  8 ft/mi on the Salmon, 4 ft/mi on the Snake River.
Run Length:  73 miles (53 on the Salmon, 20 miles on the Snake)
Current Streamflow:  4750 cfs @ 12/14/2016 09:45 AM - SALMON RIVER AT WHITE BIRD ID, reading taken from USGS
Good Level:  2,000-40,000 cfs

Primary Season: 
Permit:  Voluntary self issued permits at Hammer Creek put-in. Mandatory for the Snake River. Contact the BLM for updated information.
Character/Similar To:  Big pool and drop river that flows through beautiful desert canyon. Relatively forgiving roller coaster rapids with increasing difficulty at high flows.

Camping on River:  Many excellent riverside sites with big sandy beaches.
Location:  In the Rocky Mtn Region (ID), 180 miles North of Boise
Shuttle Logistics: 

Put-in: Turn west off of US 95 about 1 mile south of White Bird and follow the signs to Hammer Creek Boat Ramp.

Take-out: Take US 95 northwest about 88 miles to Lewiston, turn west on US 12 to Clarkston Washington. Go south on Hwy 129 about 6 miles to Asotin. From Asotine, drive southeast(upstream) along the road that follows the Snake 23 miles to Heller Bar.
