Class III whitewater picks up right a way as the Henrys Fork enters a shallow, scenic canyon. Below Hatchery Ford the river plunges into Cardiac Canyon, filled with expert rapids and dangerous waterfalls and portages. Cardiac Canyon is for experts willing to take substantial risks. |

Dangerous waterfalls and Portages. Make sure you take out above Upper Mesa Falls on the left bank. Scout the tak-out before running this section, and be sure that you are scouting the Upper Falls, not the Lower Mesa Falls a mile downstream. |

| Shuttle Logistics: |
Put-in: Riverside Campground is east off of US 20 3.5 miles south of Osborne Bridge or 15 miles north of Ashton, Idaho.
Take-out: From Ashton, Idaho, go east and then north on Idaho Hwy 47 some 14 miles. Drive one half mile beyond Grandview to Road 295 which leads to Upper Mesa Falls and the take-out. To take out at Hatchery Ford and avoid Cardiac Canyon, continue north on Idaho Hwy 47 another four miles to Hatchery Ford Road (USFS Road 351). Drive west three miles to the take out. |
