Put-in: From St. Maries, Idaho, drive upstream along the north bank some 50 miles on St. Joe River Road (forest Hwy 50) to Avery. USFS Road 218 follows the river upstream some 40 miles to the put-in at Spruce Tree Campground.
Take-out: Gold Creek is located 12 miles north of Spruce Tree Campground on USFS Road 218.
