Permit:  None presently required.
Character/Similar To:  The Main Payette is one of the most popular whitewater runs in Idaho with it's long season and proximity to Boise. Big gentle river with pool drop rapids, excellent surf waves, and a low gradient make it a great beginner run.
Water Craft:  kayak,wwcan,raft
Land Ownership:  Mixed
Wilderness:  No; a busy highway on one bank and a railroad on the other bank.
Camping on River:  USFS Campgrounds
Location:  In the Rocky Mtn Region (ID), 38 miles North of Boise
Shuttle Logistics: 

Put-in: Take Hwy 55 north from Boise some 38 miles to the confluence of the north and south forks of the Payette.

Take-out: Beehive Bend, marked by a "Sportsmans Access" sign, is just off Hwy 55 some 7 miles north of the junction with Idaho Hwy 52 at Horseshoe Bend.
