Put In:  Hammel Woods Forest Preserve
Take Out:  Channahon State Park
Difficulty:  Class I
Gradient:  5.3 ft/mi

Hazards:  As you approach the Dam stay to the left and take out near the old Illinois and Michigan Canal Lock 6. Be careful not to get caught in the current and swept over the dangerous spillway.

Shuttle Logistics: 

Put-in: From Shorewood enter the Hammel Woods Forest Preserve from Brook Forest Avenue. Follow signs back to Grinton Grove. Carry boats from the parking area down a path and across a footbridge to the landing.

Take-out: From Hammel Woods Forest Preserve, go south on Brook Forest Avenue. Turn east on HWY 52, then turn right onto I-55 heading south. Turn right on HWY 6 and then turn south on Canal Street to the Channahon State Park.
