Put In:  Forest Service Launch
Take Out:  Nantahala Outdoor Center
Difficulty:  Class II , Class III
Gradient:  38 ft/mi
Run Length:  8 miles
Flow Information (phone):  Nantahala Powerplant; 828-369-4556.
Good Level:  200 cfs minimum
Season Comments:  January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December
Permit:  Required for groups of 10 or more people. Available at the put-in or in advance by contacting the USFS, Wayah Ranger Deistict, Nantahala National Forest, 90 Sloan Rd., Franklin, NC 28734; 704-524-6441.
Character/Similar To:  Flowing through a deep, majestic gorge, the "Nanny" offers a pleasant float with some good Class II and III rapids.

Camping on River:  Lost Mind Campground and other developed campgrounds along the river.
Location:  In the Southeastern U.S. (NC), 300 miles Southwest of Raleigh
Shuttle Logistics:  Put-in: Located between Bryson City and Andrews on US 19. Access at the Nantahala Gorge Forest Service launch area.



Take-out: US 19 follows the Nantahala for the entire run. Take-out at the Nantahala Outdoor Center, just downstream from Nantahala Falls.
