| Little N. Santiam - Upper on the North Santiam River |
The First 2.5 miles of this run are slow and very scenic class I with an occasional class II. Take time during this section to enjoy the scenery.
Mile 2.5(The Slot Rapid): The Slot itself is a very narrow canyon with a very turbulent entrance. Just above The Slot the river divides around a large gravel bar. When the river connects again it is funneled in the slot creating a very challenging class III rapid. At higher flows this rapid becomes class V.
Mile 5: Between mile 2.5 and mile 5 the river slows down and takes on a class II pool drop nature. In the last 1.5 the gradient becomes steeper and the river offers a few more fun class III rapids.
