This river becomes solid class V at high water

Permit:  Available at Selma Market.
Character/Similar To:  A classic Pacific Coast river; a remote, forested, steep canyon wilderness run.
Hazards:  Unpredictable and erratic flows and weather, isolated area, cold water, and Green Wall Rapid.
Water Craft:  kayak,wwcan,raft
Land Ownership:  Almost all National Forest.
Wilderness:  Yes
Camping on River:  Campsites are limited and some are difficult to access. Plan campsites thoroughly ahead of time. The river level can rise quickly so camp high above the river.
Location:  In the Pacific Region (OR), 238 miles South of Salem
Shuttle Logistics: 

Put In: Take US 199 to Selma, OR located about 23 miles southwest of Grants Pass. In Selma turn west onto Illinois River Road. Continue for about 7 miles and take the left fork. Proceed about another 9 miles down to the Miami Bar put in on the right bank.

Take Out: From Selma take US 199 southwest toward the coast. Turn north onto US 101 to Gold Beach (approx. 50 miles). Turn east onto Jerrys Flat Road along the south bank of the Rogue River and continue for about 34 miles. Cross the bridge over the Illinois River then turn right (south) onto Oak Flat Road (FR 450) and continue approximately 4 miles to Lower Oak Flat.
