Put In:  4 miles from Gorge 2nd Bridge
Take Out:  Bridge below Gorge
Difficulty:  Class IV + , Class V Technical
Gradient:  106 fpm, 213 fpm in Miracle Mile
Run Length:  4 miles
Good Level:  300 - 800 cfs
Streamflow Comments: 
Season Comments:  January, February, March, April, May, June, October, November, December
Primary Season: 

Rainy/Snowmelt

Permit:  None presently required
Character/Similar To:  Forested canyon with near vertical walls. Whitewater is class IV+/V and is very continuous for the first mile. After the Miracle Mile the river becomes pool drop. Most of the rapids on this run are twisty boulder gardens.
Hazards:  This section of river has many class IV+/V rapids. There are many sticky hydraulics and places to pin boats. For the first run down it is highly recommended to go with someone who has done this stretch many times.

Land Ownership:  National old-growth forest
Wilderness:  Yes
Camping on River:  In designated campgrounds
Location:  In the Pacific Region (OR), 111 miles (2 hours 25 minutes) Southeast of Salem
Shuttle Logistics: 

Take Out: From I-5 take OR 58 east for 32 miles and turn left at Westfir. Drive straight through Westfir on North Fork Road and continue 8 miles to the first bridge over the river.

Put In: From the take out continue upriver for 4.8 miles, put in were the road is near the river. Put in is at one of the muddy turn outs.
