| North Fork, Idleyld Park to Winchester on the Umpqua River |
This section of river is great for open boaters and beginner kayakers. Most of this stretch is considered class II with long pools in between, but there are a few class III- rapids worth mentioning.
Mile 5(Colliding Rivers Rapid): Here the river has a head on collision with Little River causing a sharp right turn. While you are making the turn through this rapid keep in mind that there are a few large boulders that constrict the river into a smaller channel.
Mile 11(Whistler Park Falls): This is a class III- drop with many turbulent channels.
Mile 15(Dixon Falls): Take the right channel around the island and paddle straight through to the bottom.
When you reach the reservoir caused by Winchester Dam look for a small boat ramp on river left and take out here.
