Character/Similar To:  Relatively small, straight forward rapids through scenic desert canyon.
Hazards:  Isolation, cold water and sudden weather changes. Rattlesnakes and scorpions. Class II rapids can be difficult for Open Canoes

Camping on River:  Good sites above the river near scattered trees. Many sites below on sandy beaches.
Location:  In the Pacific Region (OR), 240 miles East of Salem
Shuttle Logistics: 

Put-in: Service Creek, OR is located at the intersection of OR Hwy 207 and OR Hwy 19. The put-in is about 100 yards upstream from the OR Hwy 207 Bridge, on the right bank.

Take-out: Located at the east end of the OR Hwy 218 Bridge over the John Day.
