| South Fork Alsea River on the Alsea River |
This section of river starts off as class II pool drop for the first couple of miles. Once you have reached the third bridge passing over the river get ready for the first class III rapid around the corner. This rapid is about .5 miles long. At low water it is very technical and at high water chutes are formed creating a fun twisty rapid. The last 2 miles of the run flatten out, but there are three small sloping ledges that make a great end to this run.
Always scout this run for wood. Because the surrounding area is heavily logged, new wood always appears in the river. |
