Put In:  Johnson Beach
Take Out:  Milepost 6
Difficulty:  Class III Continuous
Gradient:  23 fpm
Run Length:  6.1 miles
Good Level:  500 - 3,000 cfs
Season Comments:  January, February, March, October, November, December
Primary Season:  Rainy, this section only runs after a few days of heavy rain
Permit:  Although there is no permit, on week days you will not be let past the guard shack at Weyerhaeuser Company’s Dellwood log dump/truck shop. You can only reach the take out and put in on the weekends.
Character/Similar To:  This stretch of river runs through a second-growth forest. At low levels there will be many mid-sized boulders in the main channel, after hard rain this river becomes very muddy and full of wood.
Hazards:  Because of the poor stability of the surrounding land, rapids on this river constantly change.

Shuttle Logistics: 

Take Out: From the south end of Coos Bay turn off of US 101 to Allegany/Coos River, start counting your mileage here. When you cross Isthmus Slough Bridge stay left. At mile 1.1 take a right onto Coos River Highway. Follow this road toward Dellwood until you reach mile 4.4, there you will cross over the Daniels Creek Bridge. Continue to mile 8.7 and turn right into Weyerhaeuser Company’s Dellwood log dump/truck shop and stop at the guard shack. When you are let through the gate, continue on the road until you reach the take out at milepost 6.

Put In: From the take out continue to drive up river. Put in at a turn off just past milepost 12.
