For a mile below the put in you can expect a very straightforward class I/II warm up before the first class II+ Rapid.
Mile 1(Little Falls): Little Falls is a small river wide ledge. Miles 1-7: Below Little Falls the action slows down. This section of the run consists of mostly fast moving water with an occasional class II riffle.
Mile 8(Salmonberry Drop): Shortly after the Salmonberry River enters the Nehalem is Salmonberry Drop. This drop can be scouted or portaged on river right.
After Salmonberry Drop expect a few more fun class III rapids in the next 7 miles. When you arrive at the take out you have the option of running the final drop called Nehalem Falls. |
