| West Fork Millicoma River on the Millicoma River |
The beginning of the run starts off with numerous class III- rapids with some good play holes. In this first short section there are only two class III+ rapids.
Mile 1.6(Henrys Falls): This is a 10 foot drop that is considered class IV because of the hydraulic it creates. It is difficult to scout this drop from the road but it can be scouted from the river. Scout this drop on river left, the run out of this water fall often contains wood. It is also easily portaged on river right, if you scout and choose not to run the drop getting across the river can be very difficult. If you choose to run this drop make sure and have lots of speed to punch the hole.
Mile 4.8(Girl Scout Triple Drop Rapid): Scout this drop from the road on the shuttle drive for wood. This drop consists of a fast chute into a pool directly above a 5 foot ledge drop. To portage this rapid is very difficult but it can be done.
Mile 5.9: About a mile past Girl Scout Triple Drop there is one more 6 foot ledge drop that is usually run on the right. Scout this drop from the shuttle drive.
Take out is either .3 miles below this drop or at higher flows you can take out 3 miles past this drop. |
