This section of the Wind consists of many class IV falls and boulder gardens seperated by calm pools. The pool drop nature of this run gives boaters a chance to view the scenery in this deep forested canyon. |
| Hazards: |
The Flume, and Beyond limits are class V rapids that can be scouted or portaged on river left, few people choose to run these drops. Shipherds Falls consists of three drops ranging from 8 to 15 feet. At high water these drops are usually portaged on the river left, at low summer flows these drops can be run. Do not attempt this section of river if it is icy or snowy because the portages become nearly impossible. |
