| Shuttle Logistics: |
Take Out: From Bakersfield, take California Highway 178 northeast about 40 miles to the town of Lake Isabella and turn left onto California Highway 155. Continue for about 7 miles to Wofford Heights and bear right onto Burlando Road. Drive approximately 4 miles to Kernville and take Sierra Way, also known as Mountain Road 99, 20 miles upstream to Johnsondale Bridge.
Put In: From the take-out, proceed up Mountain 99 and turn right onto a road (paved) going toward Lloyds Meadow. After about 15 miles on this road turn right onto the road leading to the Forks of the Kern (marked by a sign). Drive 2 miles to the trailhead and then hike the 2 miles down to the put-in. |
