The upper hole is good at almost all levels. It gets pretty rowdy at around 2000 cfs and gets rowdier with higher flows. The lower hole slower and more gentle. It washes out at about 1600 cfs. It's good for front surfing at higher flows though. The lower hole is great for beginners. |

It gets cold in the winter and sometimes the river has chunks of ice. The flows usually come up in late May and are at least 700ish through mid-August. Still boatable at lower flows but more of a pourover. |

F street bridge downstream of the first hole. It's easy to avoid but it has wrapped rafts and hooligan crafts before. However, swimmers usually slide around it. |

From 1st Street (Hwy 291) in Salida turn towards the river on G Street. Go 1 block to Sackett Street, turn left and an immediate right into the boat ramp. You'll see lots of cars and kayaks.
