Put-in: St. John's Fishing Access is located on I-90, 3 miles west of Alberton at the I-90 eastbound rest area. Boaters westbound from Missoula must drive a couple of miles past the access, take the Cyr exit and return eastbound to the rest area. A popular alternate put-in is 2 miles downstream at Cyr Bridge: take the Cyr exit from I-90 westbound, cross the river, turn left, and descend the hill to the boat ramp on the left bank, downstream form the I-90 bridge.
Take-out: To reach the Forest Grove take-out, drive downstream (west) on I-90 some 8 miles from Cyr, take the Tarkio exit, and turn right, then immediately left onto the frontage road. Drive downriver 5 miles to the Forest Grove Fishing Access on the right bank a half mile below the I-90 bridge over the river. |
