As the canyon narrows more Class III rapids appear and the whitewater peaks in the narrow heart of Gallatin Canyon. The river tumbles through the canyon for more than two miles of nearly continuous rapids, including the famous Mad Mile and House Rock. |

Put-in: US 191 follows the Gallatin providing several accesses. The Greek Creek access is some 32 miles south of I-90, 26 miles north of Yellowstone National Park.
Take-out: Squaw Creek access is on the left bank between the highway and the river, just upstream from the bridge leading to Squaw Creek Ranger Station. |
