Put In: Take US Highway 97 to the town of Terrebonne about 15 miles north of Redmond and 17 miles south of Madras. Turn west onto Lower Bridge Road just north of Terrebonne (look for the Crooked River Ranch sign). Continue for about six miles to the river and put in at Lower Bridge. For a shorter run follow signs to Crooked River Ranch. Take the dirt roads behind Crooked River Ranch to put in at a campground. By putting in here, the portage of Big Falls is avoided.
Take Out: Approximately 7 miles south of the town of Madras and 24 miles north of the town of Redmond on US Highway 97 turn west toward Cove Palisades State Park. Continue following signs to the park and proceed to the Upper Deschutes day use area. Cross over the bridge to the take-out parking area on left. |
