Put In: Between Santiam Pass and the town of Sisters on US Highway 20 turn north onto the Metolius/Camp Sherman Road and drive for about 2.5 miles then bear right at the intersection. Proceed for about 10 miles on USFS Road 14 (paved) to Lower Bridge Campground and put in on the right bridge where the road crosses the river at Lower Bridge.
Take Out: From Lower Bridge drive back upstream on USFS Road 14 for about 1/2 a mile and turn left onto USFS Road 1490 and continue to the top of Green Ridge. After about 6 miles head east (left) on USFS Road 1140 (Prarie Farm Road). Continue on this main dirt road which eventually becomes USFS Road 1180 and then eventually changes again to USFS Road 1170. USFS Road 1170 ends at a "T" intersection with a paved road, Route 64. Turn left and continue approximately 7 miles to Monty Campground. Scout the take-out so you're able to recognize it from the river. |
