Laramie (pop 27,000), located along the eastern bank of the meandering Laramie River, sits at the heart of the Laramie Basin, the highest grassland prairie in the world at just over 7,200 feet above sea level. Flanked by the Laramie Mountains to the East and the Medicine Bow Mountains to the west, Laramie is a prime location for outdoor recreationalists to base themselves from for a variety of adventures.

Laramie, in recent years, has gained popularity amongst many active individuals as a place to call home. The young and vibrant student community of Laramie adds an extra eclectic element to the city, making it an even more colorful, hip and happening place to visit.   The downtown area is full of historic buildings housing small shops and cafés. The town has a highly educated population not only because of the presence of the University of Wyoming, but also because of Wyoming Technical Institute (WyoTech) and the Laramie County Community College.
